Description

In LLAMA, do you want to get rid of the cards in your hand as quickly as possible, but you might not be able to play what you want, so do you fold and freeze your hand, or do you draw and wait to continue playing? Each player starts a round with six cards in their hand; the deck is made up of llama cards and cards numbered 1 through 6, with eight copies of each. On a turn, the active player can either play a card, draw a card, or go. To play a card, they must play the same number as the top card on the discard pile or one number higher. If there is a 6 on the discard pile, they can play a 6 or a llama, and if there is a llama on top, they can play another llama or a 1. If you fold, you place your remaining cards face down and do nothing else for the round. The round ends when one player empties their hand or all players fold. In both cases, players collect tokens based on the cards they have in their hands. Each card with a different number in your hand gives you white tokens (worth 1 point each) equal to the value of the card, while one or more llamas gives you a black token (worth 10 points). (You can exchange ten white tokens for a black token at any time.) If you have played all your cards, you can return a token (white or black) that you previously collected to the stock. Then shuffle all the cards and start a new round. The game ends when at least one player has forty or more points in total. Whoever has the fewest points wins! The original title of this game is a German acronym and stands for Lege alle Minuspunkte ab, meaning "leave all the negative points", with "Lama" also being the German name for "llama".
