Nothing inspires stories better, whether in literature or film, than the premise of a king dying. The intrigues and plot twists are usually numerous and always keep everyone hooked until the very end. This game brings the same premise and the same emotions, but here, you are an integral part of the story.

The King is dead, and three factions will fight for control of the Kingdom. Scots, Welsh, and English will take up arms and fight for dominance over the regions of Great Britain. Players will be behind all the disputes and will try to pull the strings in order to gain influence within the factions and on the battlefield. The map of Great Britain thus transforms into a huge chessboard, where it will quickly become clear that some battles must be lost in order to win the war.

The game unfolds using small cubes of three colors that move around the regions. Using cards, players can rearrange the cubes, moving them from one side to the other and altering the influence of the armies according to their own interests. Regions fall into the hands of the competing factions, and in the end, the player with the most influence in the winning faction wins.

The King is Dead is a very subtle, highly tactical game, full of options, and every move is vital. Players have few cards, and they need to play them at the right moment. On the other hand, as you get closer to the end of the game, everything gets tighter and more intense, and only the great strategists can understand the perfect move that will lead them to the throne.
